FAQ:

1.Is there any special software to use this device or just plug & play?

(Olycom) Just plug&play. Once the fiber cable/serial signal got a problem, it stops working.

2. Do we have to set for baud rate (RS485)? Our MFM meters are using 9600 or 19200 baud rates. Will it work for those baud rates (either one)? Or baud rate is automatically selected?

(Olycom) Auto-sensing/300 Baud to 115,200 Baud. So you do not have to set the baud rate.

3. What is the fiber optic option?

(Olycom) Fixed module or SFP slot available. For the fixed module, it could be SC/FC/ST with different distances(Singlemode or Multimode)

4. Can I just have RS485 serial? RS232 is not required.

(Olycom) Yes, there are 3 serial PCB cards available, options are

1, Max 6*RS232(2-pin)

2, Max 6*RS485(2-pin)

3, Max 3*RS485/RS422(RS485 4-pin, RS422 2-pin)

4, Combination: 1*RS485/RS422+4*RS232(2-pin)

2*RS485/RS422+2*RS232(2-pin)...

With those flexible options, the fiber module supports fixed or SFP type as said above
