Overview of the DIP Switching
![]()
This fiber bypass unit is fitted with an 8-position slide DIP switch array exclusively dedicated to power-on delay timing control.
Each toggle corresponds to a fixed 1–8 minute delay parameter, offering one-click manual configuration without software or external controllers.
It is a core customisation feature tailored for optical testing and staged network recovery scenarios.
Core Working Logic
1. Factory Default (All DIP switches OFF)
When every switch stays in the OFF position, the delay timer circuit is fully disabled. After power restoration, the fiber bypass instantly switches back to normal working optical paths with zero waiting time, which fits most standard communication monitoring deployments that require immediate link recovery after power recovery.
2. Delay Activation (Single Switch ON, others OFF)
Flip one designated DIP toggle to ON to trigger the timing function; each position maps to a fixed countdown duration:
1-MIN DIP ON: 1-minute hold on bypass state before switching back to normal optical channel
2-MIN DIP ON: 2-minute delay
3-MIN DIP ON: 3-minute delay
4-MIN DIP ON: 4-minute delay
5-MIN DIP ON: 5-minute delay
6-MIN DIP ON: 6-minute delay
7-MIN DIP ON: 7-minute delay
8-MIN DIP ON: 8-minute delay
3. Full operation sequence with delay enabled
Power outage occurs → unit automatically jumps to bypass optical path to keep backbone fiber connected
Power supply recovers → timer starts counting down per the DIP preset value
During the countdown window, the module remains locked in bypass mode and will not revert to normal channel
Once the preset time elapses, optical switch automatically shifts back to standard signal routing mode
Key Usage Rules
Only turn one single DIP switch to ON at a time; multiple switches toggled ON simultaneously will cause timing logic malfunction and undefined delay behaviour.
Any adjustment to DIP settings takes effect only after the device undergoes a full power cycle.
The timer resets automatically if power is cut off again during the countdown phase.
Application Scenarios for DIP Delay Function
1. Automated Optical Component Batch Testing
Engineers set a 1–8 minute delay to reserve sufficient time for instrument calibration, data sampling and equipment reset without unexpected optical path switching mid-test.
2. Multi-Stage Network Fault Recovery
For large-scale fiber networks with multiple cascaded devices, staggered delay settings prevent simultaneous bulk optical path switching that may trigger transient signal surges or link flapping.
3. On-Site Equipment Maintenance
When replacing optical transceivers or intermediate nodes, technicians set a longer delay to maintain bypass connectivity throughout the maintenance window without manual reconfiguration.
4. Industrial Optical Transmission Systems
Stable timed switching avoids frequent optical path toggling caused by momentary power dips in factory, energy and rail transit harsh power environments.
Key Features
1. Premium Optical Performance
Boasts ultra-low insertion loss and minimal wavelength/temperature/polarization-induced signal attenuation, paired with outstanding crosstalk suppression to eliminate signal interference between fiber channels; multimode and single-mode fiber versions meet full-band optical signal transmission demands.
2. Flexible Time Delay Control
Built-in multi-speed DIP toggle switch with 1–8 minute adjustable delay modes; factory default disables delay function for instant switching, enabling customized trigger timing for automated optical testing workflows.
3. Dual Power Redundant Input
Supports wide-range 12–52 VDC and 110–240 VAC dual power access with built-in reverse polarity protection, effectively preventing power supply mismatches from damaging internal optical and electrical components.
4. Robust Industrial Adaptability
Wide operating temperature span from -20°C to 70°C, IP40 dustproof metal enclosure, long service life over 100 million switching cycles and rapid ≤10ms signal switching speed for continuous long-term industrial operation.
5. Compact & Easy Deployment
Standard LC fiber ports and industrial terminal power connectors; DIN rail mounting design saves cabinet space, seamlessly compatible with high-density integrated fiber communication systems.
