Below information is about some daily queries about Olycom smart managed industrial gigabit Ethernet switches.
More Q&A will be added in the list.
1. What is the power input?
A: For non-PoE managed switches, it receives DC12V~57V, for PoE managed switches, it receives DC48V~57V.
All the models support redundant input.
2. What is the PoE budget?
A: The standard PoE output is 30W per port.
Take IM-FP288GW for example, it has 8 PoE ports, so the budget is 30W/port*8 ports=240W.
We can also support 60W output if it is required, please confirm with us.
3. How can I install the device?
A: Each model in this series supports DIN35/Wall mounting.
It requires necessary accessories in installation like screws, mounting kit etc., some of them are included in the packing box, some are not.
4. Does your switch support 155Mb/s tranceivers?
A: Yes, the optical speed is 100M/1000M/2500M. Please just configure 100M speed in the management interface, megabit modules are working.
5. Can you let me know how the indicators work?
A: This is our Vitesse based managed switch series and all models share the same indicator definition as below.
PWR: Power
FX: Fiber port(1/2/3/4)
Orange: Link/ACT
Green: 1000M Network Speed(off when it is 100Mb/s)
6. If possible to write the label as I want?
A: Yes, please just send the content and format, and we will print a sample piece for your confirmation.
The label is usually attached to the side panel.
7. Is it possible to print my logo?
A: Yes, it is usually on the top panel of the device.
8. Can you supply a customized PVC label with my model on it?
A: Yes, there is a description, model name, and logo on the front PVC mask, all is available for customization.
9. What is the packing list?
A: There is a device, protective foam, a user manual, a warranty card and a console cable in the box.
But SFP modules and power supply are NOT included, please purchase it from us separately.
10. What power supply should I use?
A: For power over Ethernet switch, the power adapter standard should be DC48V or above.
For regular switches, DC12V/DC24V is OK.
There are some recommended power supplies in our datasheet, please refer to the list or talk with us for more information.
11. Can your switch work with other brand switches?
A: Yes, for unmanaged switches, it is free of trouble to build a network topology.
But if it is about Din rail managed switches, please confirm with us, because some switches are setting up private protocols, this may involve complex VLAN configuration.
12. Does the unit price include the fiber transceiver and power adapter？
A: No, it is an industrial standard, but we have different options for both.
13. What does the NC mean?
A: it means normally closed, a symbol of power alarm.
There is an internal relay to warm the users if the power source is cut off.
14. What is the PoE output voltage?
A: Its DC48V for 802.3af/802.3at compliant powered devices such as PoE cameras or PoE routers.
If the PD takes 24V power, then please use a PoE splitter to connect our switch and powered device.
15. If possible to arrange DC24V PoE output?
A: Yes, please let us know if passive PoE is required, we will produce it for you.
16. I have a DC12V power source, but I still want to have PoE functions for my cameras, is this possible?
A: Yes, we have launched some Ethernet switches that support wide voltage input and PoE output at the same time.
17. What SFP modules do I use?
A: In a standard cabling, singlemode 20KM and Multimode 2KM modules are usually applied.
18. What certification is available?
A: We have CE/FCC/RoHS certificates for our network switches.
19. How can I get a sample unit for testing?
A: We have many Amazon stores. Please search our brand Olycom or the model names if you know.

21. What is the power surge?
A: 6KV. This is the popular standard on the market now.
22. Is it an option to just have PCBs from us?
A: Yes, as a source factory, we have many PCBs in stock, it is fine to supply boards with enclosure.
23. Is it unmanaged or managed?
A: These are managed switches.
We also have some popular unmanaged switches like IM-FP244GE.
24. Do you have L2 or L3 switches?
A: Yes, most of our manageable switches are L2 based, we also have some layer 3 managed switches.
25. Does your switch support 10G speed?
A: For some models, the fiber speed is 1G/2.5G/10G based.
We need to confirm the specification you need and let you know.
26. Do your switches support any ring protocols?
A: Yes, our switches support STP/RSTP/MSTP and ERPS for ring configuration.
27. What is the convergence time for ERPS?
A: No more than 50ms.
28. Can I shut down PoE function for some ports when necessary?
A: Yes. All the poe managed switches in this series support PoE management.
Please just set PoE status in the GUI.
29. Does IM-FP488GW support PoE management?
A: Yes. You can configure PoE management like enable/disable PoE, check PoE status etc.
30. Are there any popular functions your switches do not support?
A: Yes, our LAN switches do not support Q-in-Q VLAN, MPLS and cloud management.
31. Can I add my logo/model in the management?
A: Yes, it is easy and free of cost, please just send your model name and logo in PS/AI format. We will do the rest and send a photo for your confirmation.
32. Do you do SKD/CKD?
A: Yes, we have dealt with this many times.
As a factory, we have enough energy and resources to handle this.
33. What is the PoE transmission distance?
A: 100-meter. If you need farther distances, please purchase PoE extenders from us.
34. What is the warranty terms?
A: 1 year for commercial products and 3 years for industrial products.
